As Senior Systems Engineer, Kevin is responsible for managing, enhancing and expanding the systems and security infrastructure that our clients depend on every day. Kevin also brings his expertise to bear in shaping our QA, continuous integration and software update policies and procedures.

Kevin started playing with computers when his father brought home a TRS-80 in the late 1970’s. By 1990, Kevin was running his own dial-up BBS and building his own PCs. His hobby turned into a profession when he was hired by a local Raleigh startup as their junior Systems Administrator.

Kevin has worked in many capacities in the technology field, including key roles in technical support, development, consulting and sales engineering. Since 2005, Kevin has specialized in Linux administration, supporting systems in both the private and public sectors with deployments ranging from ten to 5,000 servers. In recent years, he has also become an Agile advocate, achieving Scum Master certification and helping businesses make the transition to modern DevOPs practices.

Kevin has been actively involved with multiple open source organizations, serving as chair of the Triangle Linux Users Group from 2000-2003, and presenting at the All Things Open and OpenSource 101 conferences.

Outside of his profession, Kevin hosts the weekly Productivity Alchemy Podcast. He and his wife, author and illustrator Ursula Vernon, co-host the podcast Kevin and Ursula Eat Cheap (NSFW) and routinely attend sci-fi and comic conventions. Kevin also voices Rev. Mord on The Hidden Almanac podcast.
